Teresa C. Urquhart Named Chief Executive Officer of Piedmont Medical Center and the Market

Rock Hill and Fort Mill, SC: (August 3, 2023) – With more than 35 years of healthcare experience, Teresa C. Urquhart is appointed market chief executive officer of Piedmont Medical Center, which includes the Fort Mill campus. She is a seasoned, steadfast leader with strong physician partnership, community engagement and hospital operations management skills.

“Teresa brings the perfect blend of leadership skills, experience and strategic thinking to this role,” said Eastern Group President for Tenet Healthcare, Maggie Gill. “We are confident she will build upon the growth and development already underway across the Piedmont network.”

Urquhart has experience leading teams to enhance services including cardiovascular, surgical services, trauma and women’s health to meet the evolving healthcare needs to diverse and growing communities. Most recently, she served as CEO of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, a sister facility. Under her leadership, Palm Beach Gardens has advanced high-quality services as a nationally recognized hospital for comprehensive cardiovascular care and a destination center for surgical services. Prior to that, Teresa served as COO of Delray Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. During her time in Palm Beach, Teresa has been a proponent of market-based strategies, which has enabled Palm Beach Health Network to become the leading system in the area.

Urquhart received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Records Administration at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She continued her education and earned her Master of Arts in Health Services Administration from Webster University in El Paso, Texas.
