Piedmont Medical Center – Fort Mill Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Sep 8, 2023

Piedmont Medical Center – Fort Mill celebrated its one-year anniversary on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. with a special ceremony for media, employees and community leaders.

The 100-bed, 200,000 square foot facility, located at the intersection of S.C. Highway 160 and U.S. Highway 21, opened its doors to the community on Sept. 7, 2022. Since then, the hospital has hit a number of noteworthy milestones, including recently performing its first vascular procedure and robotic bariatric surgery. The hospital has robotic surgery options for general surgery, bariatrics and gynecological procedures.

Teresa Urquhart, Market CEO of Piedmont Medical Center – Rock Hill and Piedmont Fort Mill, noted the hospital is proud to have such a comprehensive presence in York County and to offer patients access to high-quality care and a gamut of services close to home.

“Our community footprint is ever-expanding with the addition of new services, technology and staff,” said Chris Mitchell, CEO of Piedmont Fort Mill. “We have had a tremendous first year and look forward to what is ahead. The feedback from the community has been very positive, and our reach extends beyond the walls of this hospital as a valued community partner.”

Piedmont Fort Mill provides a 12-bed full-service emergency department supported by board-certified physicians, six multi-specialty operating rooms, 10 Labor and Delivery rooms, a 10-bed ICU, and a 76-bed medical/surgical unit. The campus includes a 60,000 square foot medical office building to support physicians in primary care, obstetrics, surgery, and cardiology.
